About Jack DeWitt
I am  a retired Engineer, Amateur Photographer and an avid participant in
the world of breeding and showing Purebred Dogs.

Upon retiring in 1994 I  began honing my skill in my lifetime hobby of
photography. It started with a course in photography offered by the New
York Institute of Photography.  Then the association with a local Camera
Club where there were monthly competitions with all images critiqued by
the evenings' judges, giving all members information on exposure,
composition, lighting, etc.  There were also monthly speakers who
provided insight into their various special photographic interests.

Upon being awarded the Photographer of the Year title once and
Runner-up twice, I decided to explore other avenues of interest and found
that  the documenting of youth sports activities was both challenging and
rewarding. The facial expressions of young people engaged in competitive
activities reveals some of  the inner fire they experience.

Moving on into activities in the canine competition arena was another step.
Portraits of dogs, images of dogs in conformation competition situations
were interesting. More challenging was  photographing  animals in Agility
competitions. Again, capturing the expressions of these animals as they
ran the jumps and tunnels was the objective. The competitors all seemed
to take great pleasure in the activity, many of them barking with joy at each
jump.

All of these agenda are represented in the various galleries on this site. It
is my sincere hope that viewers will enjoy the images as much as I
enjoyed recording them.
